ES/2000 Engineering Module

In today's hard economic times and tighter profit margins, getting customer orders designed, manufactured and to market in a timely manner is critical for corporate survival. The ES/2000 Engineering Module helps you get organized by allowing you to access and control data related to your company's products and it gives you the ability to manage product lifecycles. The product team makes, designs and processes changes early in the development cycle, when they are far less costly, as well as helping you bring new products to market faster and with higher quality.  This, in turn, results in better information for decision-making.

The ES/2000 Engineering Module labor requirements planning enables you to optimize your engineering resources using our management control and budgeting tools. You can easily track product design, engineering and revision data with this easy to use module. The ES/2000 module's integration with other ES/2000 software modules ensures a data management system that unites engineering, R&D, manufacturing, marketing, product support, customers and suppliers in a single integrated database.

1. Routings
The ES/2000 Routing section contains the "sequence of operations" required to produce each manufactured or assembled item. Other associated information, such as set-up time and unit run time per operation is also included.

2. Bills of Material
The purpose of the Bill of Materials system is to maintain product structure information defining the relationships of the various assemblies and components of the product. ES/2000 provides the following information for each assembly in the product.

ASSEMBLY INFORMATION

  1. Assembly number and description
  2. Next higher assembly

COMPONENT INFORMATION (for each component of the assembly)

  1. Component number and description
  2. Quantity required per assembly

From this base information, ES/2000 gives you the ability to create a complete product structure.

3. Documents
ES/2000's Engineering Module Document section maintains the current released versions of your manufacturing documentation as well as previous versions for retention purposes. These documents can include material safety data sheets, engineering drawings, operating procedures, compliance audits, and many others. The ES/2000 Engineering Module is a fully integrated module that can manage and distribute engineering documentation (such as drawings, test specifications and process control programs) and can easily integrate with external sources of engineering data such as CAD, PDM, and other Document Management systems.

4. Tooling
This section contains information on special tooling required for specific operations. Provisions are made for including "special tooling" references in the appropriate operation records in the routing file. References are to the corresponding Tooling File record, which will carry more detailed information on the item of special tools required.

5. Estimating
Providing accurate and profitable customer quotes in today's economy is the difference between success and failure. ES/2000's estimating, quoting, and sales-order features help you secure the sale. You can link to existing bill of materials and routings or create them on the fly to accurately estimate material and labor costs. Experiment with cost and price estimates to maximize your profit. Because all ES/2000 modules share information throughout the system, you can go from estimate to quote to order without the need to reenter data at different data collection points.
